Eyes open and Wide awake

It is 4.23 am. I haven't slept yet. My eyes are tired but my brain is wide awake. I've watched 8 episodes of From Dusk til Dawn on Netflix back to back. I'm still wide awake. I've ordered a repeat prescription from the GP, ordered dog food and ordered simmering crystal granules for the oil burners at home. I'm still wide awake.

Someone told me that the office is open 24 hours a day. I'm tempted to just get dressed and go to work. I have to buy Mothers Day cards and Birthday cards later today so an early finish at work is needed so an early start would be benefical.

I'm just grateful Hubby doesn't know I've been awake all night. He would only worry more than he already does.

And do you want to know what my main worry is now?  That it catches up on me tonight and I sleep through Supernatural. I KNOW - priorities......

I have a financial evaluation report to write today and send to my boss. I've a feeling that some of what I write in it will make less sense than it usually would. The only problem is that my sense isn't great to start with.

I have a choice - start work now or watch another programme on my iPad. Decisions decisions.

I did write a post called 'Where does the ability to sleep go?'

I did and I saved it to upload to the blog and then wrote another in preparation for another date and saved over the first blog entry - numpty . com

I wrote it at about 3.30am on a Tuesday morning in a hotel room after giving up trying to get a good nights sleep.  I slept a total of 90 minutes that night last week and amazingly coped extremely well until about 8pm the following night. In fact, I got quite a lot of work completed between 4am and 7am that morning.  If I was a little crazier I might consider that to be a great thing to do as it would appear that I am a VERY early morning person.

I travelled home that night and the train rocked me to sleep so I came home, kissed Hubby, attempted and gave up trying to calm the dogs down and took myself to bed where I fell asleep almost as soon as my head hit the pillow. Hubby says I slept well, evidenced by the snorning.

Wednesday was a none starter as I resembled a zombie walking aimlessly around the house and then attempting to get a decent days work completed.  I gave up at lunch time and took the afternoon off and slept for two hours while the sun shone outside.  I very energetically sat and caugtht up on some TV before getting tired again and cursed the hubby who needed my taxi service at 11pm because he refuses to learn to drive.

Thursday I was still recovering so maybe that is what people mean when the say it all goes downhill after 40.  My head feels about 20 but my body sometimes acts like an 80 year old.

So there is a lesson learned this week.

This week I am in Sheffield again but I am going to travel there and back in a day because it is a bit pointless staying overnight if I am not going to sleep properly. Hubby thinks I am mental because it is a very long day, leaving home just after 5am and getting home at 9.30pm but at least I can snore happily in my own bed.

The hotel I stayed in was beautiful and being the end of the month I couldn't afford to spoil myself in the spa.  However, the hotel details are stored in my head for when I have to stay overnight and I will make sure that it is just after pay day......mmmm Indian Head Massage.......

Vampire tendencies?

Okay, I don't want to drink blood, I can't turn into a different animal, I don't have fangs and I'm certainly not beautiful. However,  I am making a habit of being awake most of the night.

I nodded off on the train, thankfully dropping my book on the floor waking me before I slept through my stop at Sheffield. I nodded off on the way home last night. I longed for sleep most of the day.

I was in bed reading about murder and mayhem, zombies that weren't zombies, by 9pm. Hubby came upstairs and told me to turn the light off at 9.45pm. I has nodded off (I see a habit forming) reading the book but Beautiful B had woken me up laughing really loud last night for about 20 minutes.

She wasn't on her own so I didn't have to wonder if she was losing her marbles and I didn't really want to think about what Ry might have been doing to make her laugh so much. He is a lovely young man but I am her mum after all.

I didn't want to ask her to keep the noise down because she has spent the last week mourning her dad and sister during their second year anniversaries. It was nice to hear her laugh and so without thinking too much about what they may have been up to I was grateful that Ary can make her so happy in such a terrible week for her.

Checking Facebook before I went to bed she had tagged me in a post. A post of a man and a dog that she thought was hilarious and I just didn't get. Must be an age thing....

I had no problem going back to sleep....until midnight, then 1am, then 2.15, then 3pm, 3.30 and 4.15 at which time I gave up trying to sleep. I seem to have no problem nodding off but then I keep waking up.

I'm a pretty light sleeper but I am used to Hubby's snoring though judging by how loud he is being at this exact moment in time one has to wonder. I may try some ear plugs just to see if that is the problem.

I'm not overly concerned though other than waking up at night which may make me a vampire in the making or a zombie, which is what I always feel like the day after waking up so much.

I'm off work today and Monday and do have a long weekend.  I have a long list of things to do but I can have a little siesta later today if I need it.

I have a presentation I need to finish off over the weekend ready for a visit to Sheffield next week. I'm not telling Hubby, he won't be impressed at me working rather than relaxing at the weekend (is cleaning relaxing? Mmmm) but I'd rather get it done as I have a full report to do by the end of Tuesday.

It's now 5am and I'm feeling a little tired. If I try to sleep I will be awake at 5.30, my internal alarm clock will wake me up so I'm not late getting Hubby to work. I am sure though that by dinner time today I could nip back to bed and easily sleep 2 hours away. Should I add it to my 'to do' list?

As you can see this was not written this morning, but earlier this week.  Just in case you were confused and thought you may be losing your marbles....

Hiding under the covers

Not because I am scared. Having my face under the covers makes me feel suffocated so I'm more likely to cry if scared of monsters and boogymen. I'm under the covers with a gap so I feel I can breathe.

It's 4.16am and I'm wide awake so I thought I'd write to u lovely folks and update my To Do list. Except now that Apple, in their wisdom, made their latest update white there is a risk of waking Hubby. So I'm under the covers with the phone.

Not that he would go mad, angry mad, more that he would worry. Yes we all know he is not himself if not worrying about something, but I have given him cause this weekend.

You see I'm still recovering from the trauma of returning to work post-Christmas and I arranged 3 nights of catch-ups with best friends back-to-back in my first week. That is never a good idea when your brain is reeling from having to think about hard stuff after spending 3 weeks worrying only about where the next piece of Turkey or satsuma is coming from. So by Thursday I was exhausted and by Friday I resembled something from The Walking Dead.

Saturday and Sunday should have been days for chores but after the weekly shop they became days for game playing and, in Sarurday's case, an afternoon snooze of 2 hours. Saturday evening was a Sky Planner evening with my latest cross-stitch. All well and good, plenty of relaxation except I stitched away catching up all of the weeks programmes until 4.15am.

As you can guess after turning over and finding an empty space, well more accurately 2 dogs making the most of the extra room, Hubby came downstairs asking if I knew what time it was at 3am - cue his worrying.

I slept in on Sunday morning until 11am, understandable really, while Hubby prepared stuffed potatoes for lunch. Chores should have been commenced but Hubby believes in Sunday being a day of rest and sport. It's rare I will spend an extended period of sport watching if it isn't the Olympics, so I played a game, one game for over 10 hours obsessed with getting a gold cup on each level. By 9pm I was telling myself 'just 1 more level' but after a break while I listened to Beautiful B talk through a very stressful day and reminding her how good she is at her job (while massaging a numb 3 fingers) I went back to the game.  No-one ever said I wasn't dedicated when I wanted to be....

I came to bed at 1am and slept for 3 hours but despite Tramadol for the self inflicted pain, for which I will suffer the rest of the week, I was wide awake at 4am thinking of things to add to the To Do list and things that must get done today. Experience tells me I have to update that list or sleep with continue to be elusive. Yet, I am still awake.

So I will now try reading my book and see if that sends me back to the land of nod for the last hour before I get up and help Hubby get ready for work.

Today I will see how much of that To Do list I can clear around yet another GP appointment for blood tests and an ECG.

Have a great Monday everyone x
